Christmas arrived early at my house. I received three art books in the mail this past week.
The first one, Exhibition 36 by Susan Tuttle is a mixed media delight, full of eye candy and demonstrations with step by step instructions. Some of the 36 artists in the book include Karen Michel, Belinda Schneider, Katie Kendrick, Paulette Insall, Suzanne Simanaitis, JoAnna Pierotti, Linda Koch, Stacie Rife, Deryn Mentock just to name a few. This is a wonderful book filled with inspiration. (Susan Tuttle is the designer of my blog banner and avatar. See the link to her blog in my side bar)
The next book, What It Is by Lynda Barry is one of those books that you just can’t put down until you are done. This is my first experience reading Lynda’s journals and I have to say that every page in the book is a feast to read. The images and stories that she writes are powerful and draw you in to her world. If you don’t keep an art journal, you will after looking at this.
The last one, A Creative Year, the diary of Hanna Anderssen is a peek into the daily life of a highly creative, fun-loving, free-spirited artist. Hanna takes you on her journey into knitting, crochet, embroidery, collage, altered art, dolls and lots of art in her native country, Sweden. This book is published by Lulu and is printed on demand. It is a beautifully bound soft cover, full color book and took just a bit over a week to arrive. Hanna also has her own blog at www.ihanna.nu/blog
It’s not too late to add these to your Christmas Wish List.
