Quiltie #2

Here is my finished quiltie #2 – this one is more traditional in that it is a pieced top, batting and backing, handquilted and finished with a full binding.  It measures about 5.5 x 8.5 inches.  This one is for a swap within the ABC Yahoo Group.

Quiltie #1

 

This quiltie (quiltlet) is the result of digging through my fabric stash last night.  During this time of year I normally start cutting out the pieces for a full size quilt, but decided to try something new by creating this smaller free form version.  I am drawn to black and white mixed in with bold, bright colors and lots of texture.  There are layered fabrics, embroidery, button and beads.  Some of the fabric I tore the edges rather than cut to add yet another textural element.  I love the half orange and will use that again as a focal point.
